Shiva Rajkumar to star in Kannada remake of Asuran

Dhanush's Asuran, which released in 2019, turned out to be a blockbuster with over Rs 100 crore in the bank. The film was praised both by audiences and critics. Now, there are reports that superstar Shiva Rajkumar, has been roped in to play the lead in the Kannada remake of the film.

Interestingly, Vetri Maaran, the director of Asuran, will be venturing into the Kannada film industry as a producer with this film. The National-Award winning director was supposed to collaborate with Puneeth Rajkumar for his Kannada debut. However, the project didn't materialise due to reasons best known to the makers.

Shiva Rajkumar will be seen portraying three different looks in the film and he has already started working on it.

Reports suggest that Jacob Verghese, Jacob Verghese, who is known for films like Savari and Prithvi, has been roped in to direct the Kannada version of the film. An official announcement is likely to be made by the end of this month. The makers are also planning to rope in Malayalam actress Manju Warrier, who played the female lead in the original.

Asuran is based on the popular Tamil novel Vekkai written by Poomani. It is a blood-soaked revenge story of a father, a farmer, who avenges the ruthless murder of his son. The film featured Dhanush in dual roles.

Vetri Maaran is currently working on the pre-production of his upcoming film, Vaadi Vaasal, featuring Suriya in the lead role. It has been reported that the film will be an adaptation of CS Chellappa's novel of the same name.

He is also producing Andrea Jeremiah's upcoming film, directed by a debutante director.
